Keeping you and your personal information safe is number one priority. As a result, we sometimes put your transfer on hold whilst we ask you to provide more information.

How you can protect yourself

To help you keep your identity and money safe, follow the below advice before sending money. 

1. Never transfer money to someone you don’t know

The person contacting you may claim to be legitimate, but if you don't know them, think twice and check their identity before you send them money.

• If someone asks you to send money to their personal bank account for a charitable donation or hotel stay, check with the organisation before sending any money.

2. Go through official channels

Most charities will allow you to donate securely on their website, or have an established system for making donations.

• If you're trying to resolve a dispute with someone, contact the platform you're using and ask them to help resolve the situation.

3. Double-check everything

Confirm the identity of everyone involved before you make a money transfer, and check that the situation you’ve been presented with is, in fact, reality.

4. Wait

Money transfer scams put pressure on you to transfer immediately. Step back to assess the situation and think about whether it makes sense.

5. Trust your gut

If something seems off, it probably is. Slow down, make a few online searches, and get the facts before letting someone push you into making a decision you’re not comfortable with.
